As i promised…… CEP was awesome! It just knocked Camp Yuber out of the no. 1 spot. Can you believe that?
Here’s a summary of what we did there. Chant, Pray, Games (outdoor), Hiked and Had FUN!!!
Chant: This is a buddhist camp, what do you expect? Well, chanting for the first time isn my life is a weird yet peaceful experience. Seeing everybody so peacefully sitting down, crossed-legs, palms together, it gives you the feeling of peace. Plus, it’s all done in silence. Have you ever taken time out of you busy life, from listening to all the traffic and typing noises from working computer, or maybe just the work chatter coming from you boss or colleagues, and just set-aside five minutes time to meditate in silence and remember all the happy and peaceful thoughts in your life? If you did not, try starting now. It helps relieve stress and calms the mind down.
Pray: Here’s what we Buddhists always do. ”Buddha…. Buddha….. *prayer* *prayer* *prayer*”. And this is what i’ve learned in CEP. Actually, Buddha isn’t God. Buddha is just a teacher. A teacher that practices and mastered the Brahmavihara, which is the four rules to acheive total peace and happiness. First, Metta- Loving-kindness. Second, Karuna- compassion. Third, mudita-appreciative joy. And fourth, Upekkha- equanimity. If we Buddhists are to acheive this, we would be in total peacefulness and liveing a very happy life by now, and research shows that the happiest man alive is indeed a monk in New Zealand. So, i advise all Buddhists out there reading this to stop praying to Buddha and start working harder.
Games: The thing we had to work the hardest for. But i’ll get to that part later. The games they created were fun and each of them corresponded to the Buddha’s Teachings. We had to work smart, work tagether and have fun at the same time to get the game finished.
Hiked: Well, the game system wasn’t good, as teams were going to the same station and one of the teams will have to go to another station and therefore taking loads of time. And we were playing on some place which looks like a mountain and we had to hike to get there.
Well, i sure had loads of fun at CEP and i hope that i can join it next year!
